Welcome to Historic Englewood Area

From our weekly Dearborn St Farmer’s Market to Pioneer Days Englewood is SO MUCH more than just a beach community! I love the community I grew up in and would love to share it with you! If you are interested in moving to the Englewood area or just want more information please contact me!

Our community is just over 100 years old. Young by many standards, but artifacts at the Indian Mound Park date back as far as 1000 BC! It is not known if these artifacts were left by the Colusa or Timacua Indians since both of these ancient Indian tribes lived near our area.

For interesting facts about Englewood check out the Lemon Bay Historical Society or the Englewood Area Historical Museum. These groups have compiled years' worth of data and stories from people much older, wiser, and much better storytellers than I am. I have never left the museum or a Historical Society event without learning something new. There is even a Historical Society-produced Walking Tour Guide of the Dearborn Street area. You will find that our area is rich with history and there is always someone with a smiling face, and maybe a beer, who wants to share it with you!

Englewood is situated in both Sarasota and Charlotte counties. It is home to beautiful beaches, several islands, nature parks, cultural events, and more. Englewood has multiple public and private elementary schools, and middle schools and is home to Lemon Bay High School. I attended Englewood Elementary School and am a graduate of Lemon Bay High School. My husband and my children also are graduates of Lemon Bay! If you want to know about our area, I’m your gal! If I don’t know the answer, I know where to go to get you the answer!

Manasota Key, one of Englewood’s barrier islands, is a peaceful 7-mile stretch of the most pristine and natural beaches in the area, including Englewood Beach, Manasota Beach, Stump Pass Beach, and Blind Pass Beach. The winding drive through Manasota Key will lead you along a quaint path of 50s-style beach homes and unspoiled mangroves – all leading to a breathtaking view of the gem of our community The Gulf of Mexico.

Our area has several outstanding restaurants, great shopping, and many outdoor activities!

Needless to say, there’s always something to do in our unique waterfront community. Our beaches remain unspoiled, where few buildings reach a height of even three stories. Our serene, undisturbed atmosphere is a place that is sure to create lasting memories for you!
